Hello. I was born in Northern Illinois in 1953. I was the fourth of six siblings, and was raised on a farm. I grew up near a small town called Stavanger, Illinois, (population 30 including dogs and cats) and went to Illinois State University in Bloomington Normal. I finished my undergraduate studies at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a Bachelor’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction (Elementary Education). I chose to go to Buenos Aires, Argentina as a Student Teacher at Lincoln American School from 1979 to 1981.

I taught 5th and 6th grades, all subjects in English.
I was married at that time to Marcia Huelsmann, also from Illinois.

I returned to the USA and settled in Portland, Oregon, where I taught Middle School in the West Linn District, and studied at University of Oregon to obtain my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I also studied at Lewis and Clark College and obtained my Administrative Credentials, qualifying me to be a school principal or superintendent.

In 1986 I left the US and returned to Latin American, teaching at the American School in Rio de Janeiro. After three years, in 1989, I switched careers and became a Branch Manager of an International Moving Company, Transportes Fink. I was sent to Brasilia, and managed their branch from 1989 to 1995. There Marcia and I had two children, Kelly and Tyler.

In 1995 I was offered to become a shareholder and managing director of a moving company in the fabulous city of Buenos Aires, called Transpack Argentina, where I continue working and living today. Argentina has proven to be both wonderful and impossible, and offers challenges and a pleasant lifestyle. I have had up to 100 staff at one time, although the market no longer sustains an operation of that size. I now employ a staff of 30. The company does international moving, storage, relocation services, shipping insurance, and customs services. Our market is 95% corporate and 90% international.

Together with my wife we own two lovely homes in the USA, one on Siesta Key in Sarasota, Florida, and the other in the Smoky Mountains in Western North Carolina.

I play guitar and sing country western songs. I have always enjoyed writing, and have written a novel called Shining New Testament. Other books in my portfolio are The Kama Sutra of Quality, a business guide to quality programs, What’s Worth Knowing (a children’s play with music), a collection of poems called A Thin Book of Poems, and a collection of Short Stories called The Canine Effect on the Price of Water and Other Short Stories.
